Illuminated Bodies in Perpetual Motion

As part of a collaborative project with Japanese artist Hitoshi Kanamura for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, we proposed a project involving 20 custom-made paper lanterns that abstractly depict 2020 Olympic and Paralympic athletes in action that would be paraded throughout the city. By abstracting specific Olympic and Paralympic athletes and displaying them as luminary sculptures, our intention is to distill their energy and motion into archetypal forms of human potential.
